UNICEF says nearly 3 million children in Ukraine need aid

The UN children's agency reports that, after six weeks of war, almost three million children in Ukraine need humanitarian assistance. So far the UN has verified the deaths of 142 children in the conflict.

Migrant landings doubled in Italy in 2021


A Jesuit center for refugees in Italy has noted that 67,040 migrants arrived in Italy in 2021 by sea, almost twice as many as the year before. Among them were nearly 10,000 unaccompanied minors.

Greek rescue workers and border forces rescued 27 migrants from a small island in the Evros river on the border with Turkey.

Ukraine war: Thousands of refugees returning home

Some 870,000 refugees from Ukraine have already returned to their home country, according to the Ukrainian government. In the last week alone, some 330,000 people have come back following a relative easing of tensions.

Ukraine: MSF Italy provides psychological assistance to refugees

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has launched a program in Italy to provide support to Ukrainians who have fled the conflict. The initiative is already active in Milan, Rome and Trieste and will soon open in Naples.
