Denmark to open medical clinics for Ukrainian refugees
Denmark is planning to open four advanced medical clinics which will focus solely on treating the growing number of Ukrainian refugees to ease pressure on the country's healthcare system. The plans present a stark contrast to the government's recent policies towards refugees from non-European states.
Channel crossings: France stops hundreds of migrants
Police prevented more than 600 people from crossing the Channel from France to the UK over the weekend, according to French officials. Meanwhile, hundreds of migrants and refugees arrived in southern England via the Channel.
IOM: 4,000 migrants returned to Libya so far this year
More than 4,000 migrants have been returned to Libya since the beginning of the year, according to the latest IOM numbers. The report comes after two boats in the past ten days have capsized off the Libyan coast, resulting in 53 presumed deaths.
Frontex: Most border crossings into EU in first quarter of this year since 2016
More than 40,000 irregular border crossings into the European Union were registered between January and March 2022, according to Frontex. That's 57% more than in the first quarter of 2021. The figures did not include the vast majority of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine.
