Palm wine tapper hacked to death in Edo

A palm wine tapper identified as Osigwe Ayomonekhai, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Jattu, Etsako West Local Government area of Edo State.

The incident was said to have occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

Lagos receives COVID-19 vaccines

 

Lagos State has received doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.

They arrived around 4pm on Tuesday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu confirmed.

He spoke at the 2021 International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

39 migrants heading for Europe drown off Tunisian coast

 

At least 39 migrants drowned off Tunisia when two boats capsized on Tuesday, the defence ministry said, as numbers risking the dangerous crossing to Europe continue to rise.

Rescuers pulled 165 survivors from the floundering boats out of the sea to safety.

Police release OPC members detained over Iskilu Wakili’s arrest

The Oyo State Police Command on Tuesday released three members of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC).

The OPC members were arrested after the OPC arrested Isikilu Wakili, a Fulani herdsman. Wakili has been accused of masterminding series of attacks, killings and kidnappings cases in Ibarapa geo-political zone of the state.
